A Light in the Darkness: A Story of Hope During the Holocaust, by J.E.Ballantyne, Jr., tells the true story of Eva Schloss. Eva was Anne Frank's childhood friend and would become her step-sister following the end of World War II. This play is based on Eva's book The Promise, in which she tells the powerful story of how her family was forced into hiding from the Nazis. They are eventually betrayed by their helpers and captured by the Nazis and sent to Auschwitz. There they suffer unthinkable horrors as they fight everday for survival.
